upcycling ideas {20 perfect pallet projects}

You know, I’ve never really been much of a magazine girl. I don’t subscribe to any, they were just never my go to for inspiration. But let me tell you … that is a changin’. I find myself engrossed in any kind of magazine these days just looking at the pictures and gleaning inspiration for our soon to be house renovation / remodel projects.

And it’s no secret that I’m a fan of upcycling ideas and pallet projects. And I’m finding myself drawn to all things pallet wood, or reclaimed wood, or barn wood. The pictures just pop right out of the magazine and are just drooling with character and depth. Pallet projects seem like such a great way to create a unique focal point in any room.

Update:  I wrote a whole book with fresh pallet project ideas and tutorials for the beginner to seasoned DIYer, find it here.

Here are 20 of my favorite pallet projects.

What do you think? What pallet projects should we tackle in our, er, the new house? She’s still not ours, closing date is set for March 21st. Until then you can find me not-so-patiently waiting with a lap full of magazines in hand. 🙂

And if this whole house business is news to you, get caught up by checking out how we decided whether to rent or buy, a few first shots of our the total fixer upper and how I may have panicked about the whole thing.

Update:  We DID buy the house and proceeded to renovate it it top to bottom, you can see all of the projects here.

    Karah, great ideas for pallet wood. Of course i love your Caribbean rooftop bed if I would only sleep in it in my dreams, and the coffee table with the wheels is something that would be very useful. Blessings.

    So, where can a gal get some pallets on the cheap? Everyone but me seems to have them lying around!

    • Karah says

      April 2, 2013 at

      I know right, I do tend to see them all around, but I think that’s because I’m always on the look out. I would try the loading area of your local home improvement store, or any store that would receive large shipments of items … maybe even the grocery store. Good luck!!

    I’ve seen the potting table pallet project and have wanted to make it. Question….are you able to find pallets that are being given away or do you purchase. I always thought that they were reused. I love the headboard. Thanks for the ideas.

      If it’s the use of old wood you could do a planked wall with all 1 x 4s 🙂
