house tour {in curacao} where jef met bachelorette emily’s daughter, ricki

Happy Tuesday to yáll! Do you recognize those front steps? Today we’re taking a tour of the truly breathtaking oceanfront Sirena Bay estate where Bachelorette Emily and her daughter Ricki stayed while they were here in Curacao. It is phenomenal! A true representation of traditional Curacao architecture and design.
When my friend, Marilyn, and her husband, Richard, retired to Curacao 12 years ago they came looking for an historic renovation project. Now that’s my kind of retirement!

And, I guess when you have this view to enjoy when you’re taking a break from the project, you can’t complain too much.
THANK YOU so much Marilyn and Richard for showing me around your beautiful home and letting me share a little inside look. I am in awe of what you have accomplished with your beautiful home.

Marilyn actually did all of the design work herself during the renovation, and picked all of the artwork and furniture from here in Curacao! How awesome is that?!?!

And true to Curacao style … it really is all about the outdoor space. Be still my heart! A private beach?

But, ok, I really did take some pictures inside, too. When you first enter the home you are greeted by this very cozy entry … now this is Curacao floor tile I would love to have. (Did you see Emily coming down those stairs to tell host, Chris Harrison, that she was ready to break it off with Arie?)
And the view when you’re in the main sitting area of the home. What can I say … I said I took pictures ‘inside’ the home … I didn’t say they were ‘of the inside’. 😉 The Bachelorette watchers will recognize the walking bridge …
I took some time on the bridge to ponder as well … what would my husband look like in skinny jeans? 😉

Ok, back to the house … there are two beautifully appointed guest suites with attached baths off either side of the main sitting area on the first floor.

And I am head over heals in love with the Pineapple Suite upstairs … the room where Bachelorette Emily stayed. I could have really benefited from a wide-angle lens to do these rooms justice.

The view from the room back out into the quaint sitting area at the top of the stairs. Look at all of the beautiful woodwork. Love.
And look what else I found upstairs … I could stare at that all day.
One really cool feature of this home is the original ventilation unit on the roof over the kitchen. Magnificent!!
And the view down the alley beside the main house. I just love it! The two rooms off to the right originally held water cisterns and have been converted into offices. And the alley leads to two separated apartment units on the property. The estate sleeps 12 in total. Who wants to come visit? 🙂
Interesting factoid – all of these historic homes were built with coral stone. Marilyn did something really cool and left some of that original work exposed on one part of the wall in her courtyard. Just beautiful!
And the view down the alleyway on the other side of the main building. Makes you wonder what’s around the bend, doesn’t it?
Well, I’ll tell you … there’s a covered patio where I can see myself wasting some time away.
I just love all of the colorful, Curacao artwork in Marilyn’s collection. This piece had been switched out during the filming of the show … remember when Emily and Ricki were having breakfast before the date with Jef??
And the view from my … er, their breakfast spot. Sigh!
Aren’t these lights so fun?! Sirena is the Spanish word for mermaid.
And a few more details I fell in love with … the view from the side apartment.
I loved these shell candle holders.
And the color of this pool house.
And the detail on this bathroom door.

And everything and anything to do with the outdoor space. 🙂
One last look back at the main house from the water. Remember the final date with Jef, Emily and Ricki on the step … they talked about the monkey eating Cheetos, and the marionettes. Awwww!
Pretty awesome, huh!! Now, if you are ever headed for a Curacao vacation, keep this estate in mind because it is available as a vacation rental.
