joy to the world {simple Christmas wreath}

This time of year really is the best, isn’t it?!?! The holiday spirit is in the air, holiday decor is strewn about and holiday cheer is abundant.  :)  I practically hear carolers singing “Joy to the World” right now. I love that first delve into the Christmas decor and crafting.  I like to see what we’ve got from year’s past that still inspires me and try to come up with a few new ideas at the same time.  All while I watch my husband roll his eyes at me as I pace to and fro between him and his football, or futball, or whatever sport he’s watching at the time. Hey, this decor thing takes time.  You gotta step back, look at it from all angles, scootch it around a bit and then step back for another look … am I right!?! On my decor day we even had the island equivalent of what could be considered a winter storm.  Brrrrr! Just kidding I think it did get down to 79 degrees though … which is close to a record low.  And the perfect day for dilly dallying around with some Christmas decor I say. So I made a few new driftwood Christmas trees and gave our fall leaf wreath a winter makeover.

pallet art {tutorial}

Ummmm, have you ever totally meant to do something for months and just never did? That’s what happened to me here. I wrote a tutorial of the very first pallet project I made for a guest post and never came back and gave you guys the how-tos. And the guest post was in January.  :/ Ack! Anyhow … here’s the story of my very first pallet project.  Well, for the blog anyway … me and pallets go way back.  ;)

new camera {old tray}

I love this picture. I love everything about it. There’s color and depth and chipping paint.  Some parts are in focus and some are blurry. And there’s aqua.  Oh, the aqua. And I took it with my point and shoot camera. And I’m preparing myself for my our new Canon 60D.  AAAAHHHHHH!! Seriously excited.

3 pillow {embellishment} ideas

Hey y’all.  Yesterday we were talking pillow cover making and today we’re giving those little covers a little extra umph with 3 easy ways to update a pillow cover. Let’s jump right in and start with the white pillow covers.  You may recall we didn’t work with any white fabric yesterday.  Those beauties in the back are just regular white pillow cases updated with a blue sharpie.  Easy peasy, right!?!

the great outdoors {link party}

Happy Tuesday y’all! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend and an opportunity to take a moment to remember the true reason for the day. How blessed we all are to be from the land of the free and the home of the brave.  Spend any amount of time in another culture and the true value of freedom, equality and the ability to fight for your rights becomes crystal clear.  How fortunate to be free.  :) Now, let’s get this party started. If you haven’t had a chance, just click on the pic below to check out our brand new rooftop bedroom complete with a pallet bed as well as homemade candles, pillow covers, and unruly duvet along with a peaceful view.  And, be sure to see what my MISSION: Possible gals accomplished, even the black thumbed Andrea.  ;)

the great outdoors ~ pallet bed in our rooftop bedroom

I had dreams.  I had visions.  I had pinned beautiful outdoor beds, and spaces and had images of what was sure to be our awesome, Awesome, AWESOME new pallet bed on our roof. You saw this sneak peek this morning … And, I have to admit, I do NOT have all that I had dreamed of.  But, considering that we have been talking about putting a pallet bed on the roof for.like.ever since we moved in, 2 and a half years ago, and we now have pallets on the roof with a mattress on top of it and a few cute accessories that will never hold up to the wind so I have to carry them up and down whenever we use the space, I am thrilled.

the temporary tattoo image transfer technique

Do you ever wear a temporary tattoo?  No, I’m not talking to your kids.  I mean you.  :) I do. And it turns out that habit came in handy when trying to figure out how to do an image transfer on the cheap. I still don’t have a vinyl cutting machine, or even any idea of what those things are and how they would work.  But I have a home printer, and Picmonkey.  And, I need Picmonkey for this because I don’t know how to reverse text in Word.  Do you?  Do tell. Update: I shared how to reverse text in Word here.

month in minutes {april 2012}

Is it me or was it just the beginning of the new year like yesterday?  And now it’s May.  Next thing you know we’ll be decorating for the holidays already. This coming from the girl who keeps her driftwood tree out all year.  :) So, to keep things in check, let’s take a look back at the month that was April 2012 to put everything we did in one handy spot and highlight a few new things just to keep it fresh.  Don’t forget that you can access each month in minutes by clicking on the stamp like buttons in the right sidebar for a quick recap of what we’ve done each month. I’ve gotta chuckle that we started April with the file cabinet makeover.  Which was supposed to be a file organization makeover. And, as of yesterday, I still have a desk covered in papers that need filing.  #justcallmeefficient
