Happy Friday, y’all! Being away for 4 days last week and coming home to workers painting the exterior of our house this week … and trying to snuggle as often as possible with a sick 10-year-old puppy … … oh, and trying to tackle some of the items on my 67 item long to-do list, has made for me not getting out of the house much this week.
You first saw this guy nestled on our pallet bed I made for our roof. I had visions of this guy hanging over our pallet bed, glistening in the evening, all romantic like. But we discussed here why that didn’t work. So I took way too many pictures of it laying in bed because I am a dork instead.
Hey hey! Happy Tuesday! If you missed part one of my nobody knew it was coming eagerly anticipated Haven lists of 3 please check out yesterday’s post here. :) Now, let’s just get at it for … the rest of the story. (name that radio personality for 5 points) 3 Swaggiest Swag Items (in my opinion)
Well, well, well. How have you all been? I can not even begin to express how wonderful my experience at Haven was. And, I’ve mentioned this to a few of you already, but I am not really your squealing, easily excitable type of girl. I’m much more the roll-my-eyes-at-all-you-squealing-fools type. So, I really had no idea what to expect from a blog conference, but believe you me, like my buddy Kelly, I am now totally going to become a Superblogger. ;) But, I’ve never really wanted this blog to be about blogging so I put together a little round-up of my overall experience that I hope will be fun for all. I present to you: The Haven Lists of 3. 3 Most Relatable Speakers
Today it’s Friday, and I’m at Haven. Having what I’m sure is a fantastically good time meeting fellow bloggers and talking about our blogs and learning all kinds of inspiring things. And I’m hopefully not saying too many stupid things or making embarrassing hand gestures while talking too loudly or laughing at inappropriate times. But I probably am. Sigh. But, I know for sure I am missing this gal. And this view, er, girl. And seeing these characters do this every night. And this cracked me up so I had to take a picture of it. Right before I left for this little trip I did some grocery shopping to stock Joel up on some necessities (read: ice cream, supplies for homemade garlic cheesy bread and frozen chicken pot pies) in my absence. And when I came out of the store the guy beside me had done quite a parking job. hahaha Now that I look at the pics I did a mighty fine job myself. Clearly the parking space lines and asphalt are mere suggestions. Hope you’ve had an awesome week. I’m stoked to get home and make this blog better than ever … or at least continue on the course. :) I do thank you all for sharing in the fun … I would have no need to be at a blogging conference right now if it wasn’t for my desire to create a blog that keeps you wanting to come back for more. So, Thank you! Now go enjoy the weekend. :)
Well, as you know, I am on my way to Haven right. this. second. Enter nervous jitters here. This gal on an airplane sure is hoping she’s not the odd man out in a room full of people everyone promises is welcoming and inclusive. Fingers and toes and strands of hair and anything else crossable crossed.
If you are a fan of our Facebook page you saw my confession last week. That’s right kids … I’m back from vacation for like a minute and I need to lickity split turn around and get ready for Haven. Holla! For, my fabulous non-blogger readers, Haven is a blog conference this week. That’s right. It’s a conference … and it’s about blogging. AND I LEAVE TOMORROW! Can we just take a minute here? And reflect that a year ago I hardly even knew of blogs. Had no idea there was such a thing as a conference for bloggers, about blogging. And that I will be attending one tomorrow is pretty crazytown! So, I had a brief moment of angst when I was making the Facebook confession, but it pretty much served as a ‘the truth will set you free’ sort of a statement.
I don’t know about you, but I think one of the worst feelings in the entire world is to feel left out. Whether it’s intentional, accidental, preventable, whatever. It always just sucks to not be included and know about it. No? And you know what one thing I have felt completely left out of since joining blogland?
Well, hello there! We had such an awesome time on vacation last week! Don’t you just love vacation? No matter what, there is just something about being able to do exactly what you want to do all of the time that is just the best! If you’re a Facebook fan, you know our first dining experience of choice was Sam’s Club pizza. Do you guys love it, too? We LURVE it! We also got our cravings satisfied for PF Chang’s, American pancakes and loaded nachos. Yes, this girl came home with a little more jiggle to my wiggle. :) Before we headed to Key West for the weekend we spent a few days chillin’ around Miami and enjoyed these views from our hotel. The first one got us laughing at ourselves as we kept saying – ‘oh, it’s so nice to have a view of water and palm trees’. The irony! :)
Well, I think everyone has a little extra baggage we’re lugging around. But, let’s be careful about what we consider other people’s baggage. Am I right, Bachelorette Emily? When I got an email from Houzz asking if they could guest post on this here blog, and I knew they had their vast website as a resource to access a wide variety of ideas that you wonderful readers would enjoy, I thought if they could share a few creative storage ideas, all us breadbox sized house lovers would unite and rejoice! We’re singing kumbaya as we dance hand in hand around our baggage right now. ;) Check it out!
It’s that time of the month again. Well, it’s already the second full week in June (seriously?!?!) so let’s get on it and put all of the links for what we accomplished here in May in one handy dandy little spot for you, with a few fun new things mixed in. The month actually started with very little productivity due to some fun vacation visitors. One of our favorite spots to take company is called the blue room … Cool, right?!?! So, while I was out frolicking with friends and supposed to be making a sign for a local spa, I highlighted a few of the signs I had already made here. I am happy to report, the spa sign did get made, it’s nothing extravagant, but serves a purpose. :)
Well, we are still enjoying our little vacation so I thought it only fitting to share with you some photos of a vacation we took last year to the Dominican Republic. Most people know of places like Punta Cana and Puerto Plata and stay in all-inclusive resorts with all the amenities anyone could wish for. But we tend to travel just a little bit differently. I hope you enjoy some of the highlights from our very off the beaten path journey through small fishing villages in the DR.
Hey y’all. Yesterday we were talking pillow cover making and today we’re giving those little covers a little extra umph with 3 easy ways to update a pillow cover. Let’s jump right in and start with the white pillow covers. You may recall we didn’t work with any white fabric yesterday. Those beauties in the back are just regular white pillow cases updated with a blue sharpie. Easy peasy, right!?!
As it turns out, this fun little project was a success to the detriment of our donation pile. Sorry Asiento! When I was getting our donation box organized, around the same time I was getting our rooftop bedroom set up, I was drawn to a couple of blue shirts my husband had in there. Apparently I didn’t see a need to take a pic of the shirts other than just in a pile with the pillow forms. The blue one was a regular polo shirt and the light blue one with the sail fish images was a Tommy Bahama style shirt. Here is the tale of how a novice sewer lady took two old shirts and made a few pillow covers.
Good morning! This morning we are on a jet plane, heading for a little vacation and to help our friends celebrate what is sure to be a fun wedding weekend. Congrats Adam and Marisella!! Maybe, while I am not doing anything that can even be somewhat construed as productivity in any way, you will enjoy these inspiring ideas to somehow re-use, re-purpose and re-invent items in your outdoor living spaces. And you can be productive for the both of us, thanks. :)
It’s that time again. The first Monday of the month where we share an easy peasy, super simple, somewhat silly to post about project. And today, my friends, we are going step-by-step into my rooftop pallet bed making process.
Happy Friday y’all! I feel like this week has TOTALLY gotten away from me. Wasn’t it just the weekend of the triathlon?!? Yes, that is totally a fake smile! lol And that little cold towel around my neck was a life saver, along with those clouds in the sky. A big thank you to Carol for the picture and to David and Ria for refreshing the cold towels every loop. Much, much appreciated. Anyway, I had a very interesting little shopping endeavor this week and thought it might be fun to share some shots from one of our hardware stores. Oooooohhhhhh Aaaaaahhhhh!!!!!! ;) This post may or may not be a good idea. haha The store is called Kooyman.
